LISTEN TO MY SONG!!1!
The basic setup of WicDiv is this every 90 years, twelve Gods incarnate into RADICAL HUMAN TEENS so that they can spend two years living among mortals and doing massive quantities of blow. Also passing on Divine Inspiration by way of art. This generation all became pop stars, because of course they did! So when they "perform," they sing a song that may induce a very serious religious experience.
Will it affect my character?
Long answer: how or why someone can commune with a particular god or not is not explicitly spelled out, but it seems to be influenced in part by one's innate capacity for faith, and a personal resonance with the god's message. It's kinda rare that a particular person would be able to commune with every god, and it's also kinda rare that a particular person wouldn't be affected any of them.
Short answer: basically if you want them to go for it and if you don't, no worries.
So what's it do?
The song will transfer a strong sense of her divinity- which is to say "what it is that people need from them, spiritually" Wow that is vague! But for example, Lucifer inspires people to the glory of rebellion, Inanna encourages people be in touch with their true desires.
Persephone, as a god, has been through some serious trauma! And she seems to sing about living in hell. (Literally, but mostly metaphorically!) People who really hear her seem prone to weeping, shaking, collapsing. But painful as it is, everyone seems to agree that it is FUCKING AWESOME. Because it's not just a song about suffering, it's also a song about perseverance through the dark winter, and then fucking shit up once it's spring again.
However! Not just everyone will perceive all that. Your character will probably fall somewhere on this spectrum:
Full Effect (slightly uncommon) for characters prone to understanding divinity, and to characters with personal experiences of trauma and depression
They will hear an incredibly powerful, beautiful, but also genuinely painful song. If they think about it, they can tell that the lyrics are in tongues, but it doesn't matter; they can still understand it all perfectly. Persephone is in Hell, and she
Side-Effects may include:
For those who can perceive the full effect, many of them enjoy the experience, like a sort of intense catharsis, but some certainly do not!
NEW SECRET FOURTH OPTION BAD TRIP. It doesn't happen so much in canon but it's been a lot of fun to RP with. For characters who maybe understand her message too well but it's not really what they need to hear. If you want to go here, please tap me here or in a journal PM or

Zero Effect (very rare) for characters with especially low faith stats and are predisposed to not understand her.
They will hear a girl with an impressively loud and on-key voice just singing gibberish, but everyone around her is flipping out for no reason? Why????

Middling Effect (most common) maybe your character has a lowish level of faith, maybe they don't have a lot of trauma, maybe they've already fuckin dealt with their trauma, maybe you the player choose this level because you feel like it for a reason not specified above
THEY WILL HEAR A FUCKING AWESOME ROCK SONG. Like holy shit. That is some serious rock & roll. It is raw, and it is angry, and even if they can't understand the lyrics, there's a good sense for what she's singing about and it's fucking real.

I RECOGNIZE THIS IS ALL DEEPLY FUZZY SO PLEASE FEEL FREE TO ASK IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS. So much of this is genuinely open to interpretation, I want folks to be able to let their characters respond to it in a way that they wanna! If you have a canon reason why your character's reaction should be special or complicated please do feel free to each out. because I love working that nerdy stuff out. :3c If you don't have a mary sue reason but just wanna ask questions, please do that too!

That being said, I'm always excited for cross-canon interactions and I'm curious as to what you think his reaction would be to her song. Bruce has obviously gone through... we'll call it trauma, for sure. I think it can be argued either way that he's dealt with it or not; personally, maybe not so much, but in his own way, yes certainly I would think so.
He's also a man of science, and even though he's seen some funky shit he's of relatively no faith. Again, this could be argued considering what he's seen over the years. So, given all of that, I'm curious what you think his reaction would be! And definitely look forward to telling you kids to turn your damn music down!

ANYWAY HEY. So a lot of this is extrapolation because idk my bff extremely vague power sets. That said, I'm game for Brucey getting just as mindfucked as you like! If it would he fun for you to just be completely immune lineface while everyone around him wigs the fuck out, I think hes a good candidate for that! I like to think of it like the way that the Faith stat in FF Tactics can buff your magic defense if its low enough.
But also, revenge and rage at injustice is definitely a theme in WicDiv!Persephone's story, and she's beamed that overwhelming urge directly into someone's brain before (in fact, someone... mostly immune to all the other gods songs!!!)
I MEAN. ESPECIALLY FOR BATMAN WITH SO MAMY DIFFERENT WRITERS IT COULD GO EITHER WAY????? But we could also say something like "he cant hear it unless shes specifically targetting him." in which case he would probably trip balls about his parents' headless corpses stumbling around and the smell if gray matter splattering on wet cement and that the only safety or sanity to be found is in the dark, under the earth, living for revenge.
Y KNOW. NORMAL BATMAN STUFF.
no subject
But yeah! That sounds like it could be neat. For CR fun I think it sounds more interesting to say that it would affect him in some way, but I like the idea of her having to concentrate it on him if that's the effect she wanted. Especially because Bats is especially resistant to mental suggestion?
In Final Crisis, Darkseid's people were like "you're going to spend the rest of your life in a dream world you can never break out of!" and he was like "nah..." And stuff like him dealing with the Scarecrow fear toxin on the reg.
It might be fun at some point to play with the idea later on of him generally being unaffected by her jibber-jabber until she's like lol dead parents club and then he's all funny in the head. Even though he'll still never actually kill anyone because he's Batman. Unless you're Zack Snyder, in which case I guess maybe he does kill a lot idk.
Also also! If she knows who Batman is because of 4th wally stuff, I have a 4th wall permissions on my page if that's something you're interested in at all! But that's totally your call.

Han Solo here only gets a Middling effect bc any faith he has is generally invested in his ship and his tiny circle of Friends, he has v little left over. does this mean he's not as pumped for a fight?
but MEANWHILE I also play Veronica Sawyer, and she will be getting the full effect. um. god she has so much shit going on this is going to be fun.

I do not know Veronica tho, but I'm always glad for someone else to fuck up. Do you have an app or background somewhere?

So many spoilers for Persona 5 ahead if you care! Since in canon he is basically like a stand-in for Lucifer in that he is the spark of rebellion(especially in the sense of 'creating unrest where things were 'good' before to draw attention to society's issues'), and he even summons a version of Satan that is supposed to be 'his form before the fall' in order to slay a God of Control. Akira is a Phantom Thief, and literally the whole... message of the game is to wrest control from those in charge if they are corrupt by any means, sacrilegious or illegal, which sounds like it vibes A LOT with Persephone.
And killing a God does kind of make you believe, pretty definitively.
I figured I'd hit you up ahead of time before Akira just straight up blows his 'I'm just a nerdy kid who goes to school and makes coffee' cover by freaking out at a party.
no subject
And yes that totally vibes. I think Personas and WicDivs will get along well in general, because they are all about Naughty Teens And Jungian Fuckery.
As for the specifics of how the freak out plays out, canon loves not telling and barely showing, so there's a lot of flexibility there. Like what would be the most fun for you? Just flopping over like a Magikarp? Accidentally manifesting your Persona in the middle of beer pong?
no subject
And as terrible as it sounds, I DO like the idea of accidentally summoning his Persona because that's just his concentrated rebellion. Maybe punching out an adult somewhere nearby, who knows?! The night is young and so are we!

His Persona, aka his other self, aka gods and demons he harbors (tm) is Izanagi, and due to dancing games being canon, it can do this. So while he wouldn't really know Persephone as far as mythology goes, he would totally hear the full effects of her song and this sounded super cool in general (as does the series. I will need to look into it)
BASICALLY I WANNA PLAN COOL THINGS CAUSE SHE SOUNDS SO AWESOME!!!
And also!!!! I will very probably be bringing a much old-school Persona user Eikichi Mishina from Persona 2, who lives for Visual Kei and would probably end up running into her soon or later. I mostly want to mention this because HIS main Persona is Hades and he did a tiny bit of interaction with Persephone causing issues (This Persephone looked a lot creepier. mind you!) and I think it would be some super fun CR.
no subject
But hi, yes! I am all for this! I am vaguely Persona familiar, I played 3 and have had a lot of CR with 4 characters s o. Hell yeah I am all for this.

I'm here from the Heckin Game TDM?
1. Antonio is a genuinely talented violinist who spent much of childhood perfecting his skills.
2. He has plenty of trauma under his belt thanks to the local royal family. He took a job as a court musician to pay off a huge gambling debt, they thought he was so good they refused to let him leave the palace until he did something crazy like play a song on one string. This leads directly into...
3. He sold his soul to a demon out of desperation. In practice, whenever he fell unconscious or played a certain beautiful song that induced a pleasant trance in him, the demon would take over his body and play his violin. This led to several more unfortunate events in his life. Specifically, he scared away a lover and was led to a strange mansion where he ultimately met his doom.
For these reasons, I'm considering putting him somewhere between middling and full effects while ALSO making him confuse Persephone for the demon he sold his soul to in life! They're both Hellbound after all. Might be a fun opportunity for the game's soul selling mechanics if Persephone wants a hedonistic musician on her side.
Re: I'm here from the Heckin Game TDM?
But no this all sounds amazing. Persephone’s music comes from something much closer to soul selling than hard work and practice. That said if she thinks this guy is in danger of getting under the thumb of someone worse she will absolutely play along and pretend to be his demon.
She loves hedonists who make bad choices, less out professional obligation and more out of also being also a bit of a(n attempted) hedonist herself.
Hell yes to all of this.

While Antonio would prefer his freedom, if he thinks she's his demon he will assume he has no choice but to follow her. This works out fine!

Here's the starter, by the way. Took a while to find the right words.
